Ann Turkel

The actress, who was a former cover model is living at Beverly Hills with her dogs Samantha and Olivia (above and left). They were married for only 8 years before they were divorced for a total of 20 years. Ann Turkel is still struggling to come to terms with her divorce from husband, Richard Harris. Turkel was born to an ethnically Jewish family and grew up with the mother of her child in Manhattan. When she reached the age 16 she trained under Sanford Meisner and Philip Burton, both at the Neighborhood playhouse, as well as at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. The actress admits 40 years later, to JAN MOIR she believes that the couple never found true peace and harmony. Ann Turkel has one of the most interesting and diverse professions in the entertainment business and is well-known all over the world for her achievements in motion picture TV, modeling, and business. Ann Turkel was born and was raised in Manhattan. She's always demonstrated her talent in entertainment. Her first dance lesson was at the age 5 and continued to pursue her art studies through college. Her mother is acknowledged for encouraging her creative activities. Ann has been studying voice dance, acting, and dancing since her early childhood. When she was 16, Ann had studied at the Musical Theatre Academy and the Neighborhood Playhouse with some of the most prominent acting coaches in the city including Sandy Meisner and Philip Burton. Ann started singing in highschool alongside other students and eventually formed groups. In Stockbridge, Massachusetts she also was a part of a summer performance at Berkshire Playhouse performing plays like The Pajama Game and West Side Story. It was while performing with her group at a fashion show when Ann was spotted by Gloria Schiff an editor at Vogue Magazine. Diana Vreeland, the editor in chief of Vogue Magazine, requested Ann shoot her first Vogue magazine cover in just a few days. Ann was one of America's most popular models, appearing on the covers of major magazines, including Vogue Bazaar, Cosmopolitan and numerous others. Within two years Ann was able to enter the world market modeling successfully for a number of companies in Europe and Japan in the role of face of major cosmetic brands like Max Factor Revlon and Chanel.
